Songspace Privacy Policy

Effective June 13, 2013 is a songwriting catalog and music pitching / management platform that allows Members to create distinctive personal and business profiles online in order to discover, locate, collaborate, and communicate with others. The services offered by ("Songspace" or "we") include the website (the "Songspace Website"), the Songspace smart phone application, and any other features, content, or applications offered from time to time by Songspace, American Songspace LLC, or other joint ventures with American Songwriter LLC in connection with the (collectively, the "Songspace Services"). The Songspace Services are hosted in the United States, and it is owned and operated by American Songspace LLC.

Songspace is committed to respecting the privacy of our Users. We strive to provide a safe, secure User experience. We collect information about you when you interact with the Songspace Services, both by directly asking you to provide us with such information and by automatically collecting it, through use of technologies.

This Privacy Policy sets forth the online data collection and usage policies and practices that apply to Songspace and does not apply to information we collect in any other fashion.

Information Collection

(a) User submitted information: Songspace collects User submitted information, such as name, age, hometown, bio, music genre, musical publishing information, favorite artists, favorite instruments, musical accomplishments, sound recordings, ideas, professional affiliations (which are uploaded), unpublished and published songs, photo images, photo details, calendars of events, information about songs and song titles, song lyrics, song details, song classification, e-mail address and other personally identifiable information.

(b) Anonymous information: Songspace may also log anonymous information including IP address, profile information, aggregate User data, and browser type from Users of the Website (all information identified in paragraphs (a) & (b) is collectively know as "Website Information").

How the Website Information is Used

When User-submitted information is posted on the profile page, the User has a choice to allow that information to be public or private. If a User chooses "private," the User controls who views the information. If a User chooses "public," the information is accessible by a search engine. Songspace collects the Website Information, which it may share with third parties, including approved sponsors, to provide more useful and personalized services. Songspace may share the Website Information with American Songwriter LLC for cross-marketing promotions, such as subscription offers, lyric contest marketing, and partner discounts. Songspace may use a User's email address to send updates or news. The Website Information may be shared if it is legally required to do so, such as by a court order. The Website Information may also be used by Songspace, its employees, agents, and affiliates to manage the Website, track usage, and improve the Website. Songspace does not sell or rent User submitted information or User data lists to third parties for marketing purposes.

When you decide to post content, comments, or other materials to another member's profile, or elsewhere on the Songspace Services, that information may be disclosed, and available to third parties consistent with the visibility settings for the relevant profile or content, even if those settings are inconsistent with your own profile Settings. Pages are generally publicly available, which means that posts that you make on those pages will likely be available to anyone. In addition, your content and selections may be part of your profile as well as any content pages that you view. Similarly, if you connect to a public profile, the fact that you have connected to that public profile will be available to anybody with access to the Songspace Services.

Delays and errors in effecting your profile and/or preferences may occur and we do not represent that they will be immediate, complete, error-free, current, reliable or accurate. Songspace uses cookies to identify Users' Internet browser, store Users' preferences, and potentially determine whether Users have installed enabling software needed to access certain material on Songspace. Data in cookies may be read to authenticate User sessions or provide services. You can program your computer to warn you each time a cookie is being sent, block third party cookies, or block all cookies. However, by blocking all cookies you may not have access to certain features on Songspace.

Third-Party Advertising & Cookies

Ads appearing on the Website may be delivered to the User by Songspace or one of Songspace's advertising partners. Songspace's advertising partners may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize a User's computer. Ad servers may compile information about the location of a User. This information allows an ad network to deliver targeted advertisements. Advertisers' uses of cookies are subject to their own privacy policies, not the Songspace Privacy Policy.


Songspace may uses third-party analytics providers and products to obtain, compile, and analyze information (that may include your profile, demographic information, usage information and/or device identifiers about how users are using and interacting with the Songspace Services.). Songspace may provide such information to these analytics providers for the purpose of obtaining statistics and other information about how users are using and interacting with the Songspace Services.

These analytics providers may use their own Web Technologies to provide us with these services and may otherwise collect or have access to information about you, including your Profile Content, Demographic Information, Usage Information and/or Device Identifiers. We are not responsible for those third-party Web Technologies or activities arising out of them. Some third-party analytics providers may offer you certain choices regarding their practices, some of which can be found here. We are not responsible for the effectiveness of or compliance with any third parties' opt-out choices.


Songspace utilizes links to other websites. Songspace is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices of those websites. When linking to another website, a User should read the privacy policy stated on that site.

Forums, Video, Chat Rooms, Message Boards and Personal Pages

Whenever a User voluntarily posts information to public forums, chat rooms, video pages, message boards and/or personal pages, that information can be accessed by the public to send a User unsolicited communications. Any user posting information to a public forum does so at his/her own risk.

Promotions & Contests

Songspace may periodically send promotional materials or notifications related to Songspace Services or the services or products of Songspace partners to the e-mail address you provided to us. By using Songspace Services, you consent to the receipt of promotional materials or notifications to your e-mail address or profile(s).

We may offer sweepstakes, contests, and other promotions (?Promotion?) through the Songspace Services that may require registration. By participating in a Promotion, you are agreeing to official rules that govern that Promotion, which may contain specific requirements of you, including, allowing the sponsor of the Promotion to use your name, voice and/or likeness in advertising or marketing associated with the Promotion. If you choose to enter a Promotion, personal information may be disclosed to third parties or the public in connection with the administration of such Promotion, including, in connection with winner selection, prize fulfillment, and as required by law or permitted by the Promotion's official rules, such as on a winners list.

Protecting Children's Privacy

Songspace understands the importance of protecting children's privacy in the interactive world. We do not use the Songspace Services to knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without parental consent. If you are a child under 13 years of age, you are not permitted to use the Songspace Services and should not send any information about yourself to us through the Songspace Services.

In the event that Songspace becomes aware that we have collected personal information from any child, we will dispose of that information in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and other applicable laws and regulations. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child under the age of 13 years old has provided us with information without your consent, please contact us at and we will take reasonable steps to ensure that such information is deleted from our systems.


Songspace has implemented commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access and/or use. However, Songspace cannot guarantee the security of Website Information. You understand that Songspace cannot and does not guarantee or warrant that files available for downloading, uploading, and/or viewing on the Songspace Services will be free of viruses, works, Trojan horses or other code that may manifest contaminating or destructive properties. You are responsible for implementing sufficient procedures and checkpoints to satisfy particular requirements for accuracy of data input and output, and for maintaining a means external to this site for any reconstruction of any lost data. You will be solely responsible for the security of your password and the private settings related to Content.


If there is any dispute about or involving this Privacy Policy, the User agrees that the dispute shall be governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to conflict of law provisions, and the User agrees to EXCLUSIVE personal jurisdiction and venue in the state and federal courts of the United States located in the State of Tennessee, City of Nashville, Davidson County. If an action is brought to enforce the terms of this Privacy Policy, then the prevailing party in that action shall be entitled to recover its costs and attorneys' fees from the non-prevailing party.

Changes in Policy
